1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
The book of Daniel (which is an overlay of the book of Revelation) begins with already looking ahead to what (at the time) was the distant future and what will be repeatedly pointed toward (in one way or another) throughout all 12 chapters: the fixed moment in time when Satan appears in Jerusalem as the antichrist (which Nebuchadnezzar was a type of) in the midst of Daniel’s 70th Week (which was seven years but has been shortened to five months) as you can see in Daniel 9:27.
There were three sieges of Jerusalem historically when Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin and Zedekiah were plucked up by the roots so to speak which is symbolic, in the futurist sense, of what happens to Ephraim, Manasseh and Judah at 666 when they will be plucked up by the roots as we will see in Daniel chapter 7.
2 And the LORD gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
3 And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes;
Types of those of the seven thousand Zadok who will be delivered up to the antichrist during the sixth trumpet at which time the Holy Spirit will speak through them.
Those of the Zadok will be the only ones not deceived initially and because of what the Holy Spirit will say through them, the 144,000 as well as whosoever will choose to hearken to the voice of the Holy Spirit will come out of the deception whereby they can take part in the first resurrection at the seventh trumpet.
You also find the seven thousand written of in 1 Kings 19:18 where our Heavenly Father tells Elijah of the seven thousand who are all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal (a.k.a. Satan) and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
The Zadok stood against Satan in the first world age and those of the Zadok who are alive and remaining during the hour of temptation will stand against him again allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through them bringing many out of Babylon (which means confusion) and back into God’s family tree: the many-membered body of the TRUE Christ.
4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
5 And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: (symbolic of the wine of fornication and Satan’s deception: the bread of death as opposed to the bread of life which is the Word of God) so nourishing them three years, (was the plan but we are about to find out that God showed Daniel how to alter that plan whereby they were not defiled) that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.
6 Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
7 Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.
8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: (again, symbolic of the deception as well as the wine of fornication which means worshipping Satan at 666 instead of Christ which is what ‘antichrist’ means) therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
9 Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
10 And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
11 Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
12 Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
This word translated as ‘pulse’ means something sown (as in the truth of God’s word) with the living water being the water that brings about eternal life. We also see ‘ten days’ in the first two chapters of the book of Acts after which the Holy Spirit spake through the twelve apostles (who are of the Zadok) which is also a type of what happens in the last half of the hour of temptation and the chain reaction that follows bringing the 144,000 and whosoever will out of the Babylon of the end times and back into God’s family tree which is the many-membered body of the TRUE Christ.
13 Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king’s meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
14 So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king’s meat.
The meat of the king of Babylon which is symbolic of the deception of Satan during the seventy evenings (two and a half months) that the seventy years in captivity to the Babylon of old were a type of.
16 Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
Because of the truth of God’s word (which is what the ‘pulse’ is symbolic of) and that clear living water that makes all things clear and understood through the TRUE Christ.
18 Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
19 And the king communed with them; (which just means he spoke with them) and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
Nebuchadnezzar who was a type of the antichrist those of the Zadok will be delivered up to during the latter half of the five month long hour of temptation.
20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, (which we also see in Revelation 13:18) that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.
Those who are delivered up to the king of Babylon of the end times (Satan in his role of the antichrist) will be given “a mouth and wisdom” which all their adversaries “shall not be able to gainsay nor resist” (as Christ says in Luke 21:15) because it is not them that will speak at that time but the Holy Spirit in a language understood by whoever hears it.
21 And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
A type of when the TRUE Christ returns and Babylon falls at the seventh trumpet.
